Tiwa Savage, a Nigerian singer, has revealed that she was blackmailed with a sex tape.

Tiwa Savage, a Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, has disclosed that she is being blackmailed over a sex tape, but she refuses to pay.

Her lover unintentionally put the video on Snapchat, which he later removed after realizing his mistake, but it had already been downloaded by a stalker, she claimed.

She cried when she initially viewed the video and was afraid of the reaction, she claimed.

Savage, 41, is a Universal Music Group artist and one of the world's top Afrobeats stars.

She was a member of Don Jazzy's Mavin Records in Nigeria, where she was known as First Lady, and is known for songs such as Kele Kele and Eminado.

She told radio host Angie Martinez of Power 105.1 in New York, "I'm not going to call it a sex video, but it's a tape between me and the person I'm dating right now."

She stated that the event occurred last month and that the individual attempted to extort money from her, but that she would not be blackmailed "for doing something that is normal.

"I'm that crazy," she continued, "that I could put it out myself - you're not getting any money from me."

She's presently in the United States, promoting her new album Water and Garri, which features duets with American musicians like Brandy and Nas.

She stayed composed throughout the conversation, but admitted that she was experiencing emotional anguish and that she had been unable to sleep since seeing the tape on Wednesday.

"Why now?" she asked, "when the music is so amazing and I don't want anything to take away from what's going on."

She claims she was concerned about how her fans, friends, and family would see her, but that she would not succumb to extortion.

Savage married Tunji "Teebillz" Balogun, an artist manager, in 2013, but the couple divorced in 2018 following a public feud two years prior over charges of adultery.

They have a six-year-old son, and Savage is concerned about the video's influence on both him and her mother.

"I'm going to talk to him, and it won't be till he's around 15 and someone is trying to be unpleasant to him...

All I have to do now is brace him "she stated
